Josh (played by Grant Heslov) is a struggling actor. His only job in the past two years was playing the candlestick in the Disney Electric Light
Parade and his wife wants a baby despite the fact he hasn't been able to perform in the bedroom department for five months. His so-called big break
comes when he finds out he has a meeting with his idol, Woody Allen. It's while "Waiting for Woody" that he encounters George....
Jennifer Aniston is in the office talking to Donald (Tate Donovan) when George comes in.
George: "Jennifer Aniston! Hey, you! How are you?"
Jennifer: "George Clooney! Batman!"
George: "You look great, did you change your hair?"
Jennifer: "I did, actually, it's a little lighter."
George: "It looks good."
Jennifer: "Oh, you're brushing yours back now?"
George: "Yeah, a little different, mix it up."
Jennifer: "I like that, it looks good."
Donald: "It looks great....(to Jennifer) okay, great to see you."
Josh: (to camera) "Must-see TV!"
George: (to Jennifer) "Get back with Ross!"
Jennifer: "Hey, easy!" (she leaves)
George: (explaining to Donald) "Ross...Ross on the show...."
Donald: "I know, on Warner, that's great. So, it's great to see you. I know that you don't normally take meetings ."
George: "Yeah."
Donald: "Woody does and so...."
George: "Right."
Donald: "We appreciate you coming in so...."
George: "Yeah....well, it's my pleasure."
Donald: "We're huge fans of yours especially, Lyza here's about to die."
George: "Hi Lyza. (cut to Lyza, the secretary, uncontrollably laughing) How are
ya?"
Donald: "So thanks for coming in."
George: "Hey, my pleasure."
Donald: "Great."
George: "I'm a big fan of Woody's too."
Donald: "Oh, good."
George: "Yeah. (Donald walks away)....I mean, who isn't?"
(Donald deals with an actress also waiting and when she stands to go into Woody's office, George sits down in her place next to Josh.)
George: "How ya doing?"
Josh: "Hi....(to camera, in his thoughts) George Clooney's talking to ME!"
George: (referring to his torn jacket) "Playing a hobo or a....?"

Josh: (laughs) "No, I'm not....(puts his hand down on his knee and catches his sleeve on George's arm. George pulls away.) Sorry....Oh, these
meetings, people have been going pretty fast....I'm sure he's gonna take much more time with yours."
George: "Well, I'm Batman."
Josh: (to camera, in his thoughts) "Oh my God, he really thinks he's Batman."
George: "I'm kidding....joke."
Josh: (laughs) "Of course, I know, I knew it, I knew it was."
George: "Yeah."
Josh: "I'm really, I'm very nervous....meeting Woody Allen, it's like a dream come true."
George: "Yeah."
Josh: "And then seeing you, and Jennifer Aniston was here...."
Lyza: "Excuse me? George? Can I get a Polaroid of you?"
George: "Absolutely not." (Lyza and Josh laugh)
Josh: "He's totally kidding, he's totally...."
George: "No, I'm not. I'm....not."
Donald: (follows actress out of Woody's office) "Okay, George, you all set? Now, he may ask you to read."
George: "Hey, I do accents to."
(George walks into Woody's office. While Donald follows him in and Lyza goes after the actress who left with some papers she shouldn't have, Josh is
left alone with a mother and her son who she's preparing to go in to see Woody. Josh sees the Polaroid camera on Lyza's desk and asks the mother if
she'll take his picture again because Lyza would only allow him one and he had his eyes closed at the time. The mother refuses and so Josh picks up
the camera, his back to Woody's office, and proceeds to take his own picture just as George is coming out. George sees the flash of the camera and
snatches the picture away.)

George: "I said no fucking pictures."
Josh: (to camera) "Oh, now I've pissed off Batman."
(Josh goes into the meeting and is in there for a total of 15 seconds.
Later, in a fantasy sequence, he gets a second chance at "Waiting for Woody" where everything goes the way he wants it to.)

George: "Hey, how ya doing?"
Josh: "Hey, how's it going?"
George: "Good."
Josh: "Well, it looks like these meetings are moving along pretty fast. They'll probably take a little extra time with yours."
George: "They'll probably take a little extra time with yours too."
Josh: "Yeah, well, you know I am the Candlestickman...."
George: "That's a good joke. It's funny, I just....I'm nervous....Woody Allen....to be quite honest your work as a Candlestickman was...."

Lyza: "George? Can I get a picture of you?"
George: "Only if, uh, only if he can be in it." (puts his arm around Josh)
Lyza: "Great, smile!"
(George and Josh laugh)
There's a happy ending. Josh ends up getting a small part in the Woody Allen film. He works out his problems with his wife and they have a baby.
And the day after he’s telling us how his story turns out, he has a meeting with Martin Scorsese.
This film is very much an outing for “the boys” - Grant Heslov plays the main character, Josh, and besides George, Richard Kind also appears as a
doorman. Thom Mathews appears as a bike messenger and is also co-producer. Tommy Hinkley was a driver on the set and even Waldo Sanchez, George’s
hairdresser, is thanked in the credits.
Amy Cohen, George’s personal assistant, was one of the associate producers.
You can buy “Waiting for Woody” on video or DVD from http://www.reel.com
as part of a collection of short films called “Definitely Not Hollywood: Dark Comedy Edition.”
