Judy: "Now, George Clooney's back in uniform for his new movie. Sadly, ladies, it's not a doctor or a fireman or a sailor's uniform. It's a prison
one and he looks awful. Kate Thornton's been to see him in action."
[start of interview]
Kate: "O Brother, Where Art Thou? sees George Clooney as a convict on the run in 1930's America. It's another comedy brought to us by the Coen
brothers - Joel and Ethan - who also directed Oscar-winning Fargo and cult hit Raising Arizona."
[clip from the film]
George: "I'm Ulysses Everett McGill and he's on an odyssey. I think all he really is is a fella who's not quite as bright as he thinks he is and who's
pretty good at conning people and basically he's a man who's trying to get, you know, family's important and he's trying to get his wife back."
[clip from the film]
Kate: "For George Clooney who's starred mainly in action films over the last year, the chance to join up with the off-beat Coen brothers was an
experience he couldn't pass over."
George: "I couldn't believe how lucky I was when I read it and thought it was such a hysterically funny and smart script. It's sort of a combination
of all those things they do really well, this one. You know, they have all of the sight gags and humour of Raising Arizona and with a lot more of
the....not more than, just different than their other films in terms of heart. It's got a lot of....it's really sweet."
[clip from the film]
George: "A lot of this film is closer to The Wizard of Oz than anything and
I'm sort of the straw man in this one and I'm dancing around. We just said, 'Let's just make him, just absolutely, just fall apart with fire.' It's
great. It's fun."
[clip from the film]
Kate: "Sometimes the wackiness takes over leaving one just a little confused. However, George Clooney does manage to somehow pull it off
leaving O Brother, Where Art Thou? with a This Morning rating of three out of five."
[end of interview]
Richard: "He's still George Clooney."
Judy: "Yeah, everyone said he looked awful and messy and smelly and...."
Richard: "He looked great."
Judy: "He looked great, didn't he? Doesn't it make you sick? Just a bit of stubble...."
